Fictitious flag
image by Jaume Ollé, 31 December 2017
There’s a new Islamist group fighting in northern Iraq under a white flag
with a lion. It seems that the group has the control of some zones around Diyala.
According the newspaper this is a Sunnite group.
An image of the flag I
found at

This "white flag" is probably bogus; there is no evidence that this was an
actual flag from what I am aware. The image above is a photoshopped image of a
blank white flag (a stock template used by flag companies) with a stock image of
a lion pasted upon it; Wikipedia has this same flag but vectorized, but their
source is the same image FOTW shows. I do not believe this flag existed in
physical cloth; perhaps digitally on anything online under the control of this
group; or a made-up flag to represent the group for easier identification when
mentioning?
Images provided below are so-called photos of the
flags, but clearly they're clearly photoshopped (note the low quality of the
flagpole in the first image compared to the person on the left.)
However,
the second image is literally the same one but with a different flag, I've also
provided the flag below, based upon the one shown on Wikipedia.
